Book Beginnings on Friday at Rose City Reader is the place to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
I just started Sweet Peril: Sweet Trilogy, Book 2 by Wendy Higgins:
"Unbeknownst to the Roman community 666 earthbound demons were making use of the infamous Colosseum. Twelve of the fallen ones, the Dukes, were present in human form, while the others hovered as spirits, blotting celestial lights from the night sky." (page 1)
Well, this just doesn't sound like a very good place to be right now. That's a awful lot of demons and they sure won't be up to anything I want to be a part of. I can just picture so many ghostly spirits that are so think that you can't see the sky.
Yikes, looks like trouble's about to break out at any moment! Thanks for sharing this, happy reading! :)
